Program Components

ACAP's Psychologist Registration Supervision Program meets the supervision and work experience criteria of interns interested in all areas of psychology.

You have the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience in multiple aspects of psychological practice. You'll gain a thorough practical and theoretical foundation in psychology, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the ethical issues related to psychology practice.

The program is made up of the following components:

Work placement

This 2-year program includes a minimum work placement of 6 to 9 months in a counselling, community or organisation setting. ACAP has an extensive network of placement organisations, and guarantees to find you appropriate work placement.

Regional work placements can be arranged if you are regionally located in NSW, ACT, Victoria or Queensland. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant to find out more.

Individual Supervision

ACAP has a team of highly trained supervising psychologists who are accredited and experienced in supervision. You can select a supervisor to complement your own area of interest. You can also select a secondary supervisor to develop expertise in another area.

Group Supervision

Group supervision, conducted in groups of 5, covers core and elective competencies required for registration and recommended for professional practice. This component provides a network with other interns.

Training Workshops

ACAP offers high quality training in counselling and human resource management through a range of government-accredited courses. You can select modules from a wide range of courses available to meet your specific training requirements. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant for more details on the modules available and class times.

Psychometric Testing

This module develops your skills in assessment and diagnosis, competencies that are expected of you as a psychologist in the workplace. It is optional in ACT, NSW and Queensland, and compulsory in Victoria.

Be Job Ready

Classes for this counselling course are small and interactive, and focus on hands-on learning. The curriculum is developed and updated in consultation with industry, so you are work ready upon completion and able to apply your skills immediately in your personal and professional life.

Flexibility and Choice

A key feature of this psychologist registration program is flexibility:

  • Four intakes each year
  • Individual supervision session times determined by you in consultation with your supervisor
  • Group supervision conducted during evenings and on weekends
  • Training workshops conducted during the day, evenings, weekends and in Summer School.
  • Work placement can be arranged in your regional location
Flexible & Affordable Study

Flexibility and support were the reasons I chose ACAP. Choice of class times means I can continue to work full-time and the government loan scheme helps pay my fees.
