Are ACAP's courses recognised?

ACAP offers qualifications that are recognised by VETAB, Higher Education, State Government Psychologist Registration Boards and other universities.

ACAP's Bachelor of Applied Social Science, Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills and Graduate Diploma of Counselling are accredited by the NSW Higher Education Act and are recognised as equivalent to university courses.

How does the fieldwork component of my course work?

The fieldwork component ensures that you are job ready upon completion of your course. Fieldwork can be undertaken after completing six modules.

Utilising the Fieldwork Coordinator and database, you will identify an organisation you wish to work with and establish a placement to be undertaken on mutually agreed terms.

What is full-time study?

Three modules per term for all programs except the Masters courses, which are two modules per term.

What is Summer School?

ACAP's Summer School program provides an intensive study option for busy students who cannot commit regular time during the year, or those trying to get through their course faster. Summer School takes place during January and February. For more information on Summer School, contact a SEEK Learning consultant.

Can I study through a combination of different methods?

Yes, you can select your preferred study method for each module you enrol in.

Can I change my mode of study at any time?

You can choose your mode of study at the beginning of each term for each module. Once term commences, you must complete each module in the mode in which you began.


Is campus attendance required for correspondence and online learning students?

If you complete a full qualification by correspondence or online, you may be required to attend several workshops at the Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane campuses to qualify for industry accreditation. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant for more information.

What support is available to correspondence and online learning students?

In addition to the web-based Student Resource Centre, correspondence and online learning students also have access to a dedicated support person by phone or email.


Is there any financial assistance I can receive?

Students who are eligible and planning to study a higher education award can apply for FEE-HELP. FEE-HELP is a loan provided to eligible fee-paying students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees.

Austudy or Abstudy is available to ACAP students if you are a full-time student over 25 years of age and meet Centrelink's criteria. Applications for assistance are assessed by Centrelink, so you should contact your nearest Centrelink office to discuss your eligibility.

Does ACAP Recognise Prior Learning (RPL)?

Yes. A policy regarding Recognition of Prior Learning exists for people who believe they may have already developed competencies for some of ACAP's modules either through previous experience or study.
